Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program (BHCHP) is a Federally Qualified Health Center established in 1985. It provides comprehensive medical, behavioral, dental, and preventive health care to individuals and families experiencing homelessness in greater Boston and beyond. With a dedicated team of over 600 staff members, BHCHP operates at more than 80 sites, including shelters, motels, soup kitchens, and clinics at major teaching hospitals.
The mission of BHCHP is to ensure access to high-quality health care for homeless individuals and families. The organization emphasizes a multidisciplinary approach, offering a wide range of services such as primary and urgent care, mental health counseling, dental care, and case management. BHCHP also operates the Barbara McInnis House, a medical respite facility for individuals recovering from hospital stays. Each year, BHCHP serves nearly 10,000-11,000 unique patients through over 50,000 visits, collaborating with community organizations and health providers to enhance care for vulnerable populations.
